Thanks aprophet. I dont know that I would be able to skin a racoon to sell its hide anyway. I'm sure I will be sending some to racoon heaven sooner than Oct. anyway. There will likely be more to dispatch into the fall and winter months too. A web site concerning selling of hides would be welcome for future reference though and maybe I could practice on non prime hides before I trap some with prime hides later in the year. Believe it or not a number of people eat them here. I like animals that are vegans but the ones that eat carrion I do not consume

We caught a coon this morning and disposed of him properly, then reset the trap. Thanks for the great advice everyone, it seems to be working. My dad has threatened to make us eat a possum different times.

I've got an electric fence around my 6 coops. The same one used for dogs. We have raccoons, skunks, snakes, dogs-people dump them out here. The fence usually works except once for smaller snake fence shorted out during storm, killed one of our keats. Rat snake about 3 feet long my mother killed it. We've killed 3 so far this year and one got away(killed baby quails in non electrified building) and the fence wasn't on the times the snakes got in or we didn't have fence set up right - need to make sure snake can't slide under it(put small logs or sticks around the bottom) . Friend of mine just lost her entire coop to raccoons - didn't eat any things just killed them all. They dug under the coop. I worry about my chickens everyday! Does anyone know how to get rid of cutter ants?
