ways to become self sufficient

Really like your list, breaks it down into doable chunks.

I am in Mormonville (was raised one but I never did like to "practice") and that is one practice that they do that has always made sense to me is a 2 years food supply. Prices always go up and buying in bulk just makes sense.
 
More ideas....

1. Burn wood, cut it from your woodlot
2. Well water
3. Garden Garden Garden .... then freeze, can and store
4. Build your house from used wood. We built the framework of our house from old barnwood, salvaged wood from houses being torn down, and an old school being demolished. Saved tons of $ and now have a good house.... Nothing fancy, but nice for us.
