So something has been eating my garden I don't know what it is I noticed that we do have a lot of pincher bugs around but I also noticed this somewhat large black beetle that was living underneath my potted plants. I decided to put my strawberries and potted plants in my artichokes that way in the winter time I can just pick them up and put them in the garage for safekeeping instead of covering them and having a chance if they might die from frost in the winter. I have used cayenne pepper around and I also sprinkle the tiny bit on the leaves and it seems to help but it really doesn't solve the issue I also tried peppermint oil and spraying the plants of peppermint oil and that seems to help but there's a problem because it also keeps bees from landing on my plants. What do you due to rid pests out of the garden?

Depends on what kind of bug, and what kind of damage. Are they eating your plants? You need to identify the pest. Slugs: Escargo, or Sluggo: look for a product that has ONLY iron phosphate as the active ingredient. If it has other active ingredients, don't use it. I feel fairly safe using Pyrethrin or Permethrin products. Sevin is considered fairly safe by some, and very lethal by others. Insecticidal soap is safe. Wood ash affords a bit of protection. All of these products except for iron phosphate and wood ash will affect bees and other pollinators, so... IMO use all insecticides with caution, and I only use them if the flock is excluded from the area.
