Yes, I'd like to know too. Will this be a place I can buy chickens to start my flock? I'm about 3-1/2 hours from Greensboro, will that be too far to drive the birds back? If there are chickens for sale and it's not too far to transport, then count me in!
P.S. Is there any way to find out what people are bringing (i.e. what kinds of birds will be available?) ahead of time? I'm specifically interested in Buff Orps and similar.
Hi, yes, it is where we trade/buy/sell birds and meet our fellow byc members. If those of you have already said they are coming would like to put up what you want and what you are bringing, that would be great.
weasley, 3 1/2 hours is not too long. Yes, this will be a great place for you to start your flock.
Great, count me in! I just hope that somebody will have some of the breeds I'm interested in-- Buff Orps, mainly, or Wynadottes or Dorkings.
The qualities I'm looking for are a calm, easy temperment; strong/sturdy/hardy physically; and good reliable layers; so if anyone has another breed they'd reccommend, I'd take it into consideration. This is my first time with chickens so I want birds that are pretty easy-going and not too delicate-- and hopefully not too loud as I'm in a pretty urban location!
Now I just have to get my coop started already! Aack, only 5 weeks now!
