Just received our very first order of Pekin ducks today from Townline Hatchery, Zeeland, MI, and live in Traverse City, MI with winter weather. Am in love with these three adorable ducklings, but also feel like such a newbie. Worries about wintering them. This is a new Covid project as we are a 4H horse family, and unfortunately cannot go out and work with our leased horses anymore. We have no idea if we will even be able to show them this summer. We love animals and have a crazy lab, Buddy, a mini lop, Stewart, guinea pig, Norman, and last and the smallest pet, a hamster named Odie. Our lease horses are Lexi and Tink. My husband is along for the ride and very patient with our love of animals. He’s in charge of building their duck condo. The ducks will be pets as I’m not into the butchering thing, but we are hoping that at least one will be a generous egg layer. So excited about this new pet chapter! Found BYC when Googling duck questions. Fortunately, a friend around the corner has two
4-week old ducklings and a lot of poultry experience.

Would you know anything about a duck laying an egg in a swimming pool.Ive had ducks swimming in my pool and found an egg in my pool today?Any suggestions it's still pretty cold here.

Fish it out an toss it. That’s what I do if one of my ducks lays an egg in their pool. Nothing in it but egg contents.
