! Happy you joined us! Great pictures!!! Best of luck to you in your chicken adventure!!

Sounds like it's been alot of fun. My neighbors had chickens many years ago, now they just grow veggies and I give them pick of the poop every fall for their composter! We also trade eggs for veggies and smoked salmon with eachother. Their grandkids and great grankids love to come over and feed the chickens with my daughter. It's delightful watching them interact with the animals.

Hello and welcome to BYC

Love the pics! And congrats on the broody! She'll need to get up once a day (though they sometimes skip a day) to eat and drink and stretch her legs a bit. Don't feed her on the nest as this may cause her to poo in the nest and broody poops are

. Just leave food and water out where she can get to it and leave her. She won't need any help, just a safe sheltered spot where she can hatch and raise her fluffy butts. Once the babies arrived give her and them chick starter, not layer food (it's bad for the chicks, too much calcium). And enjoy! Broodies and chicks are great fun.

From Cody, WY, what breed may be the lucky daddy?
Your professor is a very smart person to have sent you to BYC, everyone one here will help you with ANYTHING you need to know. Navigation is easy once you get the hang of it, there is also a handy search option if your question doesn't get answered right away.
