We didn't move to the country for this. Discouraged.

We have 40 acres way out in the middle of farming land. It's a 640 acre tract split into 40 acre parcels and used for residential living. We just have one thing after the other threatening our property and health. It started with seismic testing. We are smack dab in the middle of the Niobrara Oil Shale. The testing pushed all ground animals up toward our houses. They have been driving me crazy eating EVERYTHING!!! As shown here:

That was once a 6ft tall crab apple tree. Then it had it's roots eaten off to an amazing level.

Next we suffered from giardia. Even our animals got it. I determined it came from the well which was probably compromised by the seismic testing. Our neighbors animals suffered as well (amazing how people don't drink plain tap water anymore).

Now we are embroiled in a lawsuit over the mineral rights to all that oil. We have them the people who sold the land want them back. It's been a long long long long long lawsuit and it's killing us financially.

When the lawsuit is over we'll have all the drama of an oil well on our tract (the proposed site is on the property next to us). We'll also have to worry about fracking and just everything else. Crime for one.

Tonight I drafted 3 different form letters to object to an e-waste disposal company getting a permit on our tract of land. They're already functioning without it and just generally engaging in dangerous and illegal behavior. Signing my name, address and phone number on my objection letter seriously made me happy we have guns. The owner of this company is nuts. Built a bomb and in trouble with ATF nuts.

I'm just so tired of it. We moved out here for serenity and we are getting none. *sob*

Darn... sorry. But i'd just be happy to be living on 40 acres.. with rights to an oil field to boot.
Just sayin'..

Shale companies are going to ruin our lands.Happening over here in Ohio, but all people are talking about is the money they are making, and how safe it is.What a joke.Sorry to read it is going on in your area.I added non-shale areas to my new home list.I suppose with geoenginnering it is pointless, but we gotta try.

I recall reading of a local man that was taken to court by a shale company that sent those testers on his land.He wanted nothing to do with them, and refused to let them do the testing.Well they took him to court so they can test his land even though he will not allow drilling.
Our country is run by big business.

Yeah they are ruining the countryside. No amount of money can unpoison the water. At this point we are going to need the money to get out from under our mortgage and move before it's too late. This e-waste disposal company is going to poison it if the oil companies don't.

We had Seismic oil testing a few weeks ago, they didn't find anything, thank goodness. I don't want anyone tearing up my peoples' land for oil. I always think of what my native american ancestors would have done in a situation like this. If they had found something it would have ruined the land. Nature is such a precious thing, and people can be so selfish.

Something similar happened to my relatives in southern Oklahoma. Romour spread that they may be sitting on a oil field. Well, the company dug up 100+ acres and found nothing. Now they are mad at US for wasting their time. Some government we have.

Oil companies don't dig up 100+ acres they drill a hole. Who is mad ? Oil companies drill dry holes all the time they don't get mad about it. What does the government have to do with any of it ?
