I don't care what anyone says-- Pits can be the most WONDERFUL pets!
My In-Laws had a Pit named Sport when their son and ours were born (2 months apart)
That "Big mean dog" would lay by the babies and cry and whimper if the boys so much as started to fuss!
And Heaven help anyone that He thought didn't belong around those babies!
When the baby's diaper was messy-- he'd gently grab the waistband and carry the baby to the nearest grownup for a change!!!
Once-- when their son was 4, daddy swatted him on the butt--- and got his arm Grabbed!!!!! Not hurt, or even biut-- but Sport wouldn't let go until Momma came and told him to!
These poor unfortunate dogs get a bad rap-- and worse-- abused by ignorant people... Sport was changed forever when a !#!%**!! neighborhood "hood" stole him and though he could fight him against "trained" Pits--- he was missing 2 weeks until someone found him 1/2 dead, bloody, cold and starved in the basement of an abandoned house....
After that, he hated ANY unknown man--especially teens--- and would get scared to death of almost anything, and chew himself raw from stress.
Long ago it was Shepherds, then Dobermans, then Rottweilers...now Pits. There will always be a feared breed as long as there are ignorant, heartless people that intentionally raise/train them to be violent.
Enjoy and love that big bundle of fun!!!!!!!
