Royd, that is one thing that upsets a lot of us here too. The State Police designated an area between Greenville, Illinois (actually can start about 6 miles East of Greenville, at the Mulberry Grove exit) to the halfway mark West where it turns into Madison County, to Highland, Illinois for the Bond County deputies to use for speeders. It is unbelieveable the money generated from those poor unsuspecting out of staters coming through there. You can go 70, maybe even 75 and get away with it, but if you have out of state plates, WATCH out on I-70 after you leave Fayette County going West for about 20 miles. Big bucks made through there. They do the same thing at the school too, and maybe once a month if that they catch someone . . .so lot of time wasted there, because everyone knows to watch their speed in the school zone. DUH!!! Even the teenagers are good about it.
 
Wow that is scary for sure....never know when this person mght scalate his M.O and area of choice. I've got family in flint and st. clair shores. I would say be careful but I am sure your guns will be close by!!!
 
That is terrible.I hope people arm themselves and one of them gets the attacker.Reminds me of the zebra killer,but that was black on white and they attack either sex.

Speaking of taxes I just paid our 2nd amount for the year.It was around $677. I noticed the school system got $453.The city got around $148,and the rest went to MMRD,library,and similar stuff at a few dollars each. I would rather more go to the city than the school system(which is horrid) that seems to privately pocket income rather than spending on the kids.We don't even use the local schools anymore.A new levy just passed for the school so they will get even more.Police,fire,emergency really needs more.I constaly hear the sirens of all types of city vehicles.

I am all for police ticketing people txting/talking on cells while driving.Wouldn't care if there was an officer who did just that one thing all day.Makes the roads safer,and the city gets some much needed income!
 
Boyd's as close as I am to Flint, about 20-30 minute drive. That city has some issues and they aren't getting better.
Hearing about this killer is a bit reminiscent of the non stop fires they had not too long ago, but hardly any firemen to put them out.

All these attacks, as far as I have heard, have been in the very early morning hours, 2-4am. Unless you or your friends and family have a habit of wandering the streets of Flint at that hour, I wouldn't be to concerned. Honestly, I wouldn't walk most streets in Flint at night to begin with.

That's a horrible story. We've always had serial killers. Obviously just a guy that tipped over mentally. Who knows the reasons, it would all be speculation anyway.

What is of more concern is the lack of police protection. That is the worst sign of the times. Property values are down, so there is less income from property taxes. Politicians are afraid to raise property taxes to make up the difference. For good reason in this environment we find ourselves in. It has gotten to the point where income from citations has become the only thing that keeps cities and towns running. You just have to watch yourself. In my town they give you a 235.00 ticket for speeding 11 miles over posted limit. My visiting college student just got that ticket driving my car. I paid it for him because he has a limited income (like I don't) but if you pay in 30 days it has less points against it. He will pay me back.

It's amazing how much a 1/10th of a percent increase in taxes brings in to a cities coffers. I understand the rebellion against paying taxes. You see some of the waste and it makes you want to just say NO. At that point we end up getting what we pay for.

Cruise set. When I first got this car, I got pulled over, about once every two weeks. The day my vanity plates were in the mailbox, was the last time I got pulled over for nothing. After that, I have been pulled over twice for being bad and not gotten a ticket. 19 years of cruise control use has paid off. Both times I could have gotten a serious fine but was out of there, in minutes, with a kindly warning to not accelerate so hard.

Speeding is so easy to prevent. 70 is the limit? Read that sentence. It's the LIMIT. Not a starting point. I have a fast car.

If I don't speed, alone, in my sports car, maybe people shouldn't in their child-filled minivans.

I'm hoping they catch the guy. Is there any pattern to his strikes, like timing, so there is some starting point to when/where he strikes?

This is a scarey story but like someone else said, if you are not walking the streets in the wee hours of the morning you should be OK.

My point is that certain areas, such as I described, should automatically revert to 50 mph, off hours and off season. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason for me to crawl for 3/4 of a mile, at 35 mph, just for fear of a ticket, when the majority of the world is laid up in bed, from a hangover, or sitting around drinking coffee and typing on BYC.

It's like the 30mph sign, posted 3/4 of a mile, before the stop sign, at the end of my road...Honestly, a "stop ahead" warning sign is more than sufficient, to do the job. It was put there, intentionally, beause you have to drive over a rise, before the stop sign, and it's an excellent place for a cop to sit, undetected.

I am a big boy, and do not need the nanny state telling me to get my foot off the throttle and on the brake...It's not like the road is thoroughfare, with drivers, unfamiliar with the situation.
