we have a sick rooster. 19 weeks old NH Red who is acting lethargic

he has been acting lethargic, then we noticed his feathers were very fluffed. he is normally the first one to greet us, but hung out under the coop all day, to the point one of the hens brought him food. Tonight, he did not roost and is on the floor. a hen is with him and seems to be trying to keep him warm (almost sitting on him). While we were checking him over, she was very intense and protective. We have a coop with shavings on the floor, well ventilated and the roost is about 5 feet off the floor. They have free choice the majority of the day. The yard is large.
we have recently added 5 ducks to our lot, but they are kept seperate from the 9 hens this rooster lives with. Seperate yard and housing.

There are so many different problems that it could be. Is it very hot where you live? He may be dehydrated and some chickens can't take hot weather as well as others. He may need electrolytes (can use pedialye or chicken vitamins/electrolytes such as SaveAChick. Could he have worms or lice? Have any chicks had coccidia? When they get suddenly so sick it is hard to treat them when you are unsure of the cause. Could he have eaten moldy food or gotten into something poisonous? I hope you can figure out the cause and the poor guy does okay. Maybe someone else with more experience can advise you.

we live in NH. It was warm today, but he woke up this way and it was NOT warm in the morning. Noone has been sick. We don't have any chics outside with them. There are 4 turkey poults, but they are still inside. He is essentially free range, but it is fenced and I don't think he could have gotten into anything. We do give them a lot of treats from the garden. would beets or brocolli make him sick?
