he has been acting lethargic, then we noticed his feathers were very fluffed. he is normally the first one to greet us, but hung out under the coop all day, to the point one of the hens brought him food. Tonight, he did not roost and is on the floor. a hen is with him and seems to be trying to keep him warm (almost sitting on him). While we were checking him over, she was very intense and protective. We have a coop with shavings on the floor, well ventilated and the roost is about 5 feet off the floor. They have free choice the majority of the day. The yard is large.
we have recently added 5 ducks to our lot, but they are kept seperate from the 9 hens this rooster lives with. Seperate yard and housing.
