We have chicks! (see pg3)

Thanks. Went down to check things out this morning and I can hear peeps from under her, but I'm leaving her alone. I'm worried that my checking on her so often and bugging her is maybe why she pecked at the other chick, so now I will leave her alone. I'll still check on her, but no touching- I'll just be waiting to see a little fuzzy butt poke it's head out from under her.

Yes, actually the mothers have been known to help the chicks hatch.

I have 2 chicks! Not a great hatch rate, but I'll take it for my first try with a not-so-great mama hen who wants to eat her babies.

She was pulling one chick out from under her and pecking at it when I went down to check her again, it would try to snuggle under and she'd grab it and pull it out, then peck it. It's little head was bloody and I took both chicks away from her. Poor things! At least they have each other to snuggle with in my box/brooder so they won't be too lonely.
My rooster is a SLW, so the chicks are SLW and one from a BO hen (I'm pretty sure) and one from a EE hen (I think she might be a bantam EE?). Here they are:
