That is very sweet. I have 3 silkie hens and 1 booted bantam sitting on gray call duck eggs. When the 2 gray hens and 1 white hen goes broody I will be letting them hatch lots of their eggs.
Ducks have unbelievable hatching success even in bad weather it seems. I have some muscovie hens 'missing' right now and I was collecting eggs in the barn before that but they started laying somewhere else so I knew what was up. I do see the hens if I am working out in the barn for a while after I fill the feeders and throw the scratch so I know they are not 'lost'. I'm just waiting it out, I figure me drawing attention to them would be bad. However I have some pens stuff ready to go because I have had the hens fight over the ducklings before, and the ducklings get killed in the fight.
