Hey everyone just a shout out our Jellybean had her first egg yesterday (Sunday 8/22) and there's another one today

she's not laying them in her nest yet but beside it. I doubt they will hatch because she's not sitting on them. We are so excited this is our first time raising ducks.

We have two khakis a mallard and a pekin. Our mallard is male and one of the khaki's is male. I hope she's successful with these eggs but I realize they probably aren't going to be fertile but we can always hope.

They usually lay a few and then sit on them at the same time so that the eggs hatch around the same time.

that's if they get broody of course. If not, it could also be that she's just laying them there but doesn't intend to sit on any of them.

Congratulations! We had our first egg this week, too; on Monday. There has not been and egg since. I have 2 female Khaki Campbell, and 4 female muscovy, 1 male muscovy. I know the egg is not from the Khaki girls as they are in a separate pen. I noticed one of my muscovy girls wandering around by herself yesterday (mine are free range during the day). She was all over and I am wondering if she may have been looking for a spot to lay eggs. I have yet to make nesting boxes but that is my project for today and tomorrow. The ducks have been making nests in their bedding at night.

Happy first egg!
