nhnanna, I wouldn't get the one I have. I needed one in a hurry so I paid a lot for stuff I didn't need like recorder, multi channels, etc. But it's a "SVAT". You can add up to 4 cams to the monitor. The monitor is the size of a small hand held TV. The old wired camera I had was hooked up to a 19 inch TV, so the picture was much bigger.
Do you want wired or wireless? I can help pick a good one.
With the wired one you'll have to run a cable from the cam to your house. A big pain but better picture. The wireless is simple...Plug the camera in. My coop is not wired so I use an extension cord, then simply plug in your monitor.
I had a cheap but awesome wired camera with the coax cable buried. I had electricity in the coop. We lived in a trailer while our house was being built. We had to add another line to our septic tank so they came over to dig it. I told them 10 times NOT to dig and break my electric wire and camera wire......well you know what happened. He got BOTH of them......Jerk!!! Not even an apology!
Anyway, the wired is cheaper. You'll need to buy enough coax cable to reach house to coop. If your coop is far away, the wireless would be cheaper.
OK, first wired or wireless? If wireless check the distance. If your coop is over 100 feet away get a 300 line of sight distance so you have a nice picture. My coop is only 100 feet away so I got a 300 feet distance. If your coop is really far away, go with wired.
You can also type in "infrared wireless survaillance camera" First you decide wired or wireless. Are you willing to drill up through your floor for the wiring? Can you use the hole where cable is coming through? If not, go with wireless. Let me know, I will try to help.
I am not sure how far it is going to be yet. We are moving the beginning of March to a rental so I will have to work it out with the landlord first. I like the idea of wireless but how far will it go for wireless?
