Our feed store doesn't get therm till April, and in MA there is a 6 chick minimum. We have 1/4 acre, and a 4X8 coop with 7 chickens.. (hopefully 6 soon.. got a roo I need to rehome) So... I cannot get more chicks this year... but maybe next year....

I can't really get more, either.... 4 is perfect for my coop, although they said I could fit 10 in there. So maybe I can stretch to 6? Haha! But really..... 4 is good.

I can see it already. If I had a farm, I'd be in trouble. I live in a pretty big city and while we don't have a hen limit, we have rules like 50 feet away from a neighbors house. So technically are we supposed to free range? Or is it just the coop that's supposed to be 50 feet away? I'm freeranging anyway... I just wonder. I need to build a fence around my veggie garden before these girls start going outside! And just now, I saw my first Frizzle and if I found them locally I'd definitely pick up 2. They are so cute!

So much to do, and we are 1 day in and I am hooked. Who knew? I keep sitting by the brooder watching them (play?) and eat. And boy, do they eat and poop A LOT!
