We lost one chicken last night. We just gathered samples from others and are taking them to the vet. But I’m posting a picture to see if someone can tell me why her poo is clear and if thats a worm or what type of worm? And what is a cost effective way to worm a 60 chickens? We did goat safeguard last and that cost a lot.

That looks like mucus, not worms. Did the chicken who died have any symptoms before she died? Could she have been kept from food and water or suffered from coccidiosis? How old was the chicken and the others? Did she lay eggs?

Valbazen is a very good wormer. It is pricey, about $50, but it contains 1000 ml which is about 2000 doses. It has to be given orally 1/2 ml then repeated in 10 days.

SafeGuard is also given orally to each chicken. It is given 1/4 ml per pound for one time then repeated in 10 days for round worms. Give it for 5 days, and it kills most all chicken worms except tapeworms.

This product sold by Jedds.com can be used in the water for 2 days to treat most worms. It is repeated in 21 days.

I took samples from two pens and that worm looking one from the picture. They said it was a tape worm. They said other pens were clear. They said they didn’t have coccidia. He was depressed acting for about 3 days. My daughter was taking him out and he would eat and drink but still acted depressed. Others would pick on him. They are about 6 months old. We did safeguard in their water. 6 cc for each pen in a gallon of water. I do have Valbazen should I treat the tapes with that? The vet was out of the office so the staff was relaying messages to me and he said use safeguard. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I am not sure if he treats many chickens

Safeguard isn't going to treat tapeworms. Neither will Valbazen. Also... You cannot mix either of those with water because the bird will not get the correct dose.
You're not getting the correct dose is just as good as not deworming them at all.

This will:

You want to use Praziquantel to treat Tapeworms.

Dosing for Equimax and other products that can be used for Tapeworms is in the link below.

That is NOT a tapeworm in the photo in post #1. I can assure you that I've dealt with tapeworms in chickens over the years and I know what they look like. Somebody doesnt know what they are talking about and doesnt know what poultry tapeworms look like.

Poultry tapeworms are off white in color, are flat and segmented. I dont care if the tapeworms are buried in poop, they are still off white in color.

There are NO segments on the object in the photo and it doesnt look flat and it is not off white in color. It is some type of tubular shaped shed intestinal lining.
Have you seen tapeworm segments slowly moving around in feces?
