Obviously you are not reading these posts correctly. She is NOT breaking the law, she is completely in her right to have whatever she wants, she just needs a permit, which they denied. Their law and codes DO NOT prohibit chickens or rabbits.

Second, I suppose it is "NATURAL" for a Parrot to live in a small cage in a house instead of the AMAZON jungle? Dogs used to be wolves, is it "NATURAL" for them to be in a house or attached to a chain in the backyard? It is all relative. It is not for you, that is fine, but why wish someone trouble because YOU don't think it is "NATURAL?"

Sonia, I signed your petition too!

The local paper printed a letter to the editor from someone in Tuscon AZ today......sweet! Thank you whoever it was!

Wow, beaconite chicks, why not just live and let live? It sounds like the family really loves and takes care of their pets. I dont understand the argument with that at all. There are lots of ways for a person to have chickens in a good enviroment.
You have the right to keep chickens how you want without interference, so should other people.
Sigh.

Sonia, keep on fighting this.

Well, I'll say this:

We have a small mammal that runs around the house. He's often destructive, doesn't have perfect house manners, and isn't potty trained, yet, he's an important part of the family, we just stick a diaper on him, and all is well.

His name is Buddy, my 2 year old son.

I personally think that everyone has a right to live the way they want to live. Why should anyone else have ANY say about what you do in your OWN home, as long as it's not hurting anyone?

We have 2 house bunnies (which includes Sonia's bunny, Dogfood), a dog, a cockatiel, 2 fish tanks, one housing guppies and the other housing an albino frog, plus a hamster.

I am digilent about cleaning, maybe a bit OCD (according to my husband), and we have no pet odor, nor is it "unhealthy" or "unclean."

I've been to Sonia's house. There was no filth or odor, and she's also got some big dogs. If you can keep several dogs in a house and not smell like a bunch of dogs live there, well, you're doing all right, I think.

I'm going to get that on-line petition signed this evening Sonia. Maggie wanted your little girl to know she was taking good care of Dogfood and giving him lots of lovin'.

And require that they meet stringent guidelines before allowing people to have permits for these dangerous and unsanitary creatures......heck why not just enact some BSL for these?
