We made the front page....and I need help

Well I put my 2 cents in the comments section of that newspaper. What a bunch of morons. I have to clean my 70 lb labs dog pen weekly to keep the smell down. And he is only in it 4 or 5 hours a day. I only have to clean the chicken house about 3 times a year and it has 40 + chickens in it all day everyday. The rabbit cages I clean monthly just because it makes me feel better. The bottoms are partially wire so most of the waste is under them. Hubby and I keep that clean weekly for the compost pile and garden. And 4 rabbits do not make as big a mess in a week as the dog does in 2 days.
I wish you success in getting this decision reversed.

I posted a reply several hours ago, along with other people, but it looks like the last one they posted was at 2:38. I guess that is when the person approving them got off work. Hopefully, they will post the ones from this afternoon tomorrow!

I saw a lot of familiar names on there!

I just found this post and went there. Lots of feedback, including one from me now.
It was so crazy that it is funny... a sick funny, that is. Can't believe people actually think this way.
Scary this world we are in.

It is just sad that your town has gotten to the point that you can’t keep pets in your own home without your local government getting involved. As said previously, notify them of your husband's harassment of you through their officials.

Sadly, if you have to apply for a permit for anything you are asking permission from government (which implies that it could be denied). It seems that your local government doesn’t see the need for any substantive reason to deny permits (and might not legally need any).

It sounds like you must have a very understanding landlord, you‘re lucky. You should be sure to remember to thank him, he might be having a difficult week as well.

Best of luck with your appeal. I would suggest that you never let them into your home again without the proper legal paperwork in hand - that includes when he comes to see if the bunny is gone (be sure that it is anyway).

PLUS 100 to JennsPeeps for the following, commenting on the newspaper article:

Any animal housed inside will only be as clean as its owner maintains it. A dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, fish or Board of Health member is going to smell if not properly kept.

Maybe the only rabbit he has ever seen was the one in the Monty Python movie.

I posted as well.
Dogs pose more of a nuisance and problem than ONE rabbit and ONE chicken ever will. My chickens are far less obtrusive than the neighborhood dogs. And alot less smelly than my cats(who poop outside near the coop and OMG the stench!)
Good Luck Sonia.
