I think being goth was more just a style and just sort of a punk attitude.
Being "Emo" leans more towards glorifying everything "emotional" dramatic..depression...and self destruction. 😒
It's awful. My daughter was and still is into all of that stuff. I can't stand it.

I can remember a time when goth meant hairy pits and hairy legs among other things.

I can recall my grandparents having a similar response to what my parents listened to back in the 60's! :gig

"Kids these days...."
That being said. When I asked for... And got for Christmas, it came with 2 strings attached! What was it? The vynol LP "AC/DC Dirty Deed Done Dirt Cheap."
String #1(Dad) not while I'm home.
String #2 (Mom) if I'm home, play it quietly or not at all; if we get a call for playing it to loud while we're at work you'll loose it for a month or so....

Funny. I never lost it but, my school buddy who lived across the lake -on a bet- could easily hear it blasting from our living room.... He phoned me while it was playing to tell me so..... He never knew I set the speakers in the front room windows 'facing the lake' that summer morning!

Sound propagation across water is FUN!
