We Quit Cigarettes

How do you know if a hen will sit on them?
She will puff up and growl at you. May peck, but mine just puffed up. Gets real mad when you try to collect eggs. After a few days of her sitting to make sure she will stick, replace the golf balls or fake eggs with fertile ones and wait. She will get up once a day to poop, eat and drink.

If you don't isolate her, other hens will add to the nest, so mark the fertile eggs. Wait 21 days. Listen for peeps. Real neat experience! Best wishes in all things!

You don't have a blasted thing to be sorry over - this is a safe place. :hugs
Am i the only one who is waiting on a couple of hens to go broody ? I want to hatch again this year. I do not do bators, only broodys

Be careful what you ask for. I have incantations and a broody GPS. It's how I was given my title.

Uuum? Ok?:p
I know. It's making me sick.
The shut down the famous Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo today. Unbelievable.
People are freaking out here to. And there's no toilet paper milk or bread.ugh.. ! I'm going to hed over to some of my older neighbors today to see if they need some help running their farms.

Ok, you can see that I'm really confused today too. (ShannonR, Sapphire, and CindyinSD) I've sent the wrong post to two of you! CindyinSD told me how to send post with the @ in front of the name. Anyways, I just wanted you to know I'm not right today. I need to stay off of hear today I think.😘🙄😡😈😰
Were you up all night again, Webby? :hugs It's always nice have you on, but I genuinely think you need to snuggle up in your bed and sleep for as long as your body wants to. Put on some quiet music to keep your mind calm.

Do make sure the nest you give her is at ground level. Once she's settled it will be tricky to move her.

My experience is that once they are really settled, it is relatively easy to move them eggs and all. I currently have a first time broody hen. Last night was the first time she let me check under her without freaking out and fleeing the nest.

As long as the nest isn't too high, newly hatched chicks bounce really well without any damage when leaving the nest the first time. I have even had the hen tuck them tightly under her wing when removing them from the nest for the first time.
