Sadly there has been a well documented downward spiral of levels of education and the k-12 standardized testing change since the 70's iirc. The teaching to a test has become the biggest part of it. critical thinking has for the most part been removed from K-12.
I'm recalling what my history, geography, penmanship(sp) etc all all so watered down.... I have irl friends who are teachers that are so frustrated and stuck because of this too. The level of common sense, logical, critical researching and reasoning skills from my age group in the high school only group is much lower then those of my parents in the 1950's & 60's graduates. The divide between HS grads and those with even some college (not even talking about those who graduated college of beyond) is also even higher a difference.

Its so sad to see.

The knowledge and skill sets that the 60+ crowd has and the loss of it as the years roll along is truly scary. Plumbing, carpendry, masonry, welding, tree trimming, farming, landscaping, foundation building, land management (not raping the land), libraries, languages, boat building, fishing, logistics, electronics, mechanical, HVAC, basic physics, chemistry, biology, awareness of our environment, botany etal.

not mad at her.... just trying to help her self admitted panic mode to reset that circuit breaker.

I am also admitting(now, here) that I have the "Rescuer gene" and I'm always wanting to help fix things etal. I've been working on this for well over a decade now - its not as bad now.... when I was in my late 20's /early 30's it was actually detrimental to my health/sleep etc.

That "name" I came up with via couseling/ talks with family from back around 2000. You see I was a Navy Aircrew S.A.R. Swimmer (Search And Rescue); flew in SH-3's and SH-60's..

Yes. Sometimes tough love is what's needed. Doesn't mean that you're mean, it just means that you know what has to be done.
I don't think that I can harden my heart too well... unless one of the roosters is giving a bit too much attention to Poppy or, especially, Marshmallow; then they'll find a boot up their vent and discover the sensation of true flying....
(Joking, I don't kick my roosters that hard. Just enough to shove them away. Though, there was a time when I kicked at Lefty and actually hit him... I thought that he'd move, but nope! Nailed him in the chest, and he rolled. Just, full 360, wing over wing. He was perfectly fine).

Good thing partial lockdown takes place before death rates go up ( = sky high after another 2 weeks).

In the Netherlands we where too late. Patients from the South are transported to the North now because all beds for Corona and ICU are taken. Sick people in Brabant (South) already wait in line for help. The reason for the outbreak there was a combination of travellers and Carnaval festivities 4 weeks ago. And wrong information from WHO at the start.

Here they ask civilians now , to hand over spectacles for fireworks to the hospital.

p.s. very few people get tested. They just can’t.
