Congrats to you Nettie and to your Production Staff!

What kind of chickens do you have?

I gave eggs away to everyone when my girls first started laying, hoping, I could sell eggs every once in a while to cover feed. I found out chickens don't lay enough eggs to sell to All those people who now ask me (almost every day) if I have any eggs for sale. LOL:rolleyes:

How awsome, I cant wait to have enough eggs. I believe only 5 of our chickens are laying, Im finding about 5 eggs per day.

I've got a mix of RIR's or Production Reds, some Barred Rock crosses who lay brown or green eggs, at least 2 Ameraucana's, and a couple other mixes hatched from eggs from a local egg lady. I get a nice mix of different shades of brown, green, olive green- a nearly blue, and occasionally a pink egg. Makes a neat looking dozen!

We went from 4 or 5 a day to 12 on most days, inside of a week. Now it's 11-14 daily, every day. Seems like we have a new looking egg almost every day-- so who knows what we'll end up with in the next couple of weeks

Before we had chickens, I used to buy 15 to 20 dozen eggs a month for all of our baking, eating needs from the health food store who sells farm fresh eggs from the area for $5.75 a dozen. Now that we are producing eggs ourselves, I can't wait to be able to sell the excess eggs we will have as soon as all the pullets are laying. It will be nice to be able to recoup some of the money I put into their organic feed and treats!!

I can imagine selling your first dozen eggs would be as exciting as getting your first egg from your chickens-very exciting, indeed!!!

I bet you will be a popular egg stop especially around Easter!

My youngest sells six dozen a week, I think. Down now for winter, maybe 3 dozen extra is all. But goes out on the bike and has an egg route, like the dairy and egg man of yore. Hits the usual customers, leaves em in the mailbox loop if no-one's home - and has more spending money than the rest of us put together!

Probably the best topic... don't think it fits under any other one. Congrats on you eggs!!!! What colors of eggs are you getting: white, brown, or EE?

I've got browns-- from light to fairly dark. Occasionally a pink. 2 colors of "celadon-ish" green, a speckled olive green, and a nearly blue little pullet egg. They look awesome all together in the egg basket-- very pretty!!

We sold 2 dozen more just now-- another person stopped in an asked for "a couple dozen". Geez-- I never thought folks would want more than 1 at a time!!!!! Hee hee... I'm excited-- DH is now worrying that we'll run out!!! I told him it never hurts to keep them wanting more
