We were almost killed last night

Oh my gosh- looks very traumatic! Glad you both are not injured too badly - probably very sore though!

No. Moose roadkill are taken care of by way of a charity/family group list.
You sign up, and when a moose is hit, a call goes into the troopers station, and then
they call the next group on the list.

Irony? We are on that list

I am sorry that rule should be if the person who hits the moose does not want it then they call people on the list.....

That is the way it is here... The deer that damaged my truck is know in my freezer... If someone else hits a deer and they do not want it THEN and only then do they call people on the list...

Glad you are both OK...

My truck with a little ole whitetail is still drivable, good thing as it has no collision insurance and I have no money to replace it..

Yep, I figured that was the case. Didn't know if they dealt with it differently if you were "on hand" so to speak.

I'm glad you two were not injured more severely. I imagine you're both pretty sore, though.

Good thing your mouth was closed. I knew a woman that hit a moose and it came through the windshield. Her mouth was open at the time and her tongue got filled with glass slivers. They couldn't get them out and every time she would talk it caused her much pain. Throat too. Took almost a year for all the glass to work it's way out.

Lucky it went over the hood. If you had been in a truck it probably would have flipped you end over end. Seen that before with a cow.

What kind and year of car is that?

Glad you're ok. The force was with you.

Wow, scary! Of all things to hit...a moose!

You are very lucky no one was severely injured or killed. It easily could have been so much worse. I feel bad for the moose, though. Take care of yourselves!

I am very surprised the air bags did not go off would have saved your faces from glass and injuries maybe. I have on the other hand seen airbags do some bad things to peoples faces etc. too so don't know.

Glad you are both ok.

Impact was too high up. Airbags deploy when the frame distorts in the area where the sensor is. The frame rails are about 12 inches below initial impact. Newer versions have inertia sensors on the floor that sense sudden deceleration. This impact would have allowed the car to keep moving and would not trigger the airbags.

Airbags can do some bad things if the seat is too close to them or if seatbelts aren't in use. If the passenger has their feet on the dash the airbag will shatter the pelvis, knees and ankles. For the vast majority of accidents they save a lot of lives.
