Gypsy is of course "Bubby" colored! My daughter (18) loves this chicken so much she wants me to recreate it. Heck I don't know what colors created the first one!

How old do EE's before they start laying . I have 2 of them that LOOK old enough to be laying . ONE acts like she is a GRANDMA ( stays in coop constantly ) will not come outside in the run at all . Stays on the roost all day .

I am starting to wonder if she might be to old to lay ? we bought them at an auction and I hav e no idea how old they are . BUT they are both very healthy .

Just a guess. Possibly a blue Americanas/ a partridge colored EE cross?

From that color I would say Blue Wheatons.....thats the closest I can find resemble of that color.

That was my first thought about the cockerel, but the hen doesn't match the pic of a blue wheaton hen I saw. She does look very similar to the blue partridge pics I looked up after that was suggested.

I like color variety ... I guess that's part of why I like the EEs and Serama so well. I like hatching little surprises. I just hope that Gypsy throws some that are colored like she is.

I assumed that the two where the same color (they really looked alike when we got them at about 8 weeks old), but maybe they are not. Chicken colors are just too complex for me, I guess, lol. I can't seem to figure them out. Does anyone have a picture of a blue partridge roo? I found pics of hens, but none of the sites I found showed any roos.

i think roo EE's the color of rusty carry the melinvecatitis gene,, which could be very very bad for humans,,, you should give him to me ta quarantine for a few years ,,,, just to be safe.

I couldn't possibly unload a problem like that onto someone else!

Everyone seems to like them, so I guess we didn't do too poorly for a neighborly trade, then. Even if we did end up with unidentifiable colors and the melinvecatitis gene!
