Ok, so work has begun on our coop and it'll be ready well before the birds go outside. DH has greenlighted getting chicks from the 6/22 hatch at a local hatchery. Took my daughter down there this morning to see the adults in order to figure out which babies she wanted to order.
As a result, in about a month we should be coming home with 3-day olds of:
EE, OE, BCM, Wheaten Marans, Silver laced polish, 2 cinnamon queens, BO, Barred Rock and a Black Australorp.
My daughter was quite taken with the little Seabright chicks (so cute! And the only ones that didn't scurry to the back corner of the tubs, so she was able to pick up a few of them), but they are straight run at this point. The owner said that in a month's time if any are left she should be able to tell sex, so we MIGHT add one at that point.
Anyhow... it's on
