I'm not going to call out the company as it could happen to any company but I just want to let prospective buyers know what is possible. On the other hand you will also find many many happy buyers but I do want you to know what you are risking.

We ordered 10 bantam chicks from a VERY reputable online hatchery.
Tracking shows they shipped at 3pm in the afternoon and I picked them up at the post office at 9am the very next morning. Open the box and only 2 of the 10 survived. Yes there was a heat pack and all appeared well with packaging. The dead were all huddled in a corner. Good weather plus the heat pack should have been well enough. Buyer beware. We will never order online again as it was heartbreaking to open that box. Speculating it got pretty cold at 30,000+ feet in the belly of that airplane.

We will stick to buying local and hatching in the incubator.

Bummer, I agree with you on buying them locally from now on, chicks and hatching eggs hardly ever make it when being sent from other countries. You were lucky even two survived out of the ten, I bought 30 chicks from the UK 4 years ago and out of THIRTY only 1 survived and only made it till the next day, ever since I’ve been buying locally and there hasn’t been a problem so far !

You could contact the company if they charged you a lot but there isn’t much you can really do about it except for move on and try again

We ordered 6- there was no heat pack 4 arrived dead but only 1 survived the week ;(
We got a replacement set and they are all doing well- there were 2 heat packs in the box!!

Sorry to hear that! I definitely agree the best is to buy locally! Or drive and pick them up! At the end of May I'm going to do a seven hour road trip to go pick up some geese and ducks.

Thanks everybody for the kind words, my wife is heartbroken as this was her birthday present also. We did contact the company for refund and not replacements. We will not subject chicks to that again, ever.

The two that survived definitely have a story to tell of their adventure. And one of them is really telling it, lol. Little loudmouth :)
