Hi I have a weak baby chick about 6 days old and im not sure what to do. She is very weak right now and is liying down on the table with her head down, she can barely move, and her pip is very weak. at first she was piping alot when i found her and i brought her in and put a heater by her and she stop piping. She is just lying down with her eyes closed. She cant even get up to eat or drink. (its been about 30 mins to 1 hour so far)

I brought her water with a bit of honey in it and baby bits of wheat. (crunched its for chicks)

What can i do to get her going again, and how long does it usually take.

I would try to dropper feed her some sugar water every hour. Electrolyte solutions with vitamins would be more ideal but work with what you've got. If she isn't eating, a probiotic formula that was recommended to me is 4 tsp milk, 2 tsp chick starter, and 1 tsp yogurt. Microwave the milk for about 10 seconds, add the yogurt and chick starter. You can then syringe feed the chick with the mixture. This is for a VERY small volume so multiply it if she's eating more.

thanks for the help, the chick didn't make it, but next time ill know what to do. Thanks again

I'm sorry for your loss. I hate losing little ones.

Welcome to BYC, by the way.

Also for next time, I thought I've read here that you shouldn't give young chicks honey, same as you shouldn't give babies honey. It can contain botulism spores.

Sorry about your chick.
