Weak duckling help

How long ago did she hatch?
I'd leave her be for now. Don't want to stress her anymore than she already is. Right now she just needs rest and warmth.

Yes, polysporin is fine. Just a dab to keep it moist. Its probably not even necessary, but I feel like it provides a little protection from germs getting inside the open hole.

I also lost a call duck to a hawk on Christmas Eve. I had had a hawk attack a couple days prior, but I was home and scared it off.... although one duck flew away during the commotion and hasn't returned. But I wasn't home on Christmas Eve and found a huge pile of feathers. I have a couple cameras watching my yard, and the replay showed that hawk stood on my girl for over 3 hours, until nothing was left but feathers. :(

Oh man I'm so sorry!
I lost a rooster on Christmas eve to a hawk. It was a horrible way to start Christmas.. he was one of my favorites too, real sweet boy.

I'm so sorry about your losses :( Its hard because there really isn't much you can do about hawks if you want your ducks to be able to roam as they please... We kept ours in a pen during the day for about a week after but I felt really bad because they were missing swimming in the river. So I decided I'd rather them be happy and live like ducks than keep them in a pen completely safe...but honestly if I could I would build them a giant greenhouse of sorts to allow them to roam and fly without the risk of predators. If I get rich it'll be the first thing on my list...

It's been a little over a day and so far so good! She's eating and drinking and pooping normally from what I can see. She is SO small though... I've never seen one so tiny in my life. Look at the size difference on both of them just a few hours after hatching!

She looks like a little chicken. It's so cute...

Very cute. Yes, it will blow your mind sometimes the difference in size. I have a batch of 4 that hatched..... 1 is still right at 3oz., the others are between 9-11oz. today. They grow sooooo fast. Glad she pulled thru, they're little fighters when they want it!!! Congrats!!! Enjoy them, theyll love you right back!!:love:love
