Hi all! Our 17 chicks arrived 30 min ago from McMurray. All but 1 look great and have drank several times. The weak one was huddled in a corner. We got her out, and helped her drink sugar water many times. She’s starting to perk up a bit, some chirps and some standing without falling over. I have a small dish of extra sugar water with a little feed in it to soften up. Anything else I can do besides monitor? Of course she’s one of the pretty polish chicks 😩

I hope she continues to perk up!
You are doing what you can for her.
If you happen to have something like Poultry Nutri-Drench give her 1-2 drops twice a day, but the sugar water is fine too.

Unfortunately that chick didn’t make it. The others seem to be doing well, with 1 a bit lethargic and small. I did get 1 “surprise chick” and I’m wondering if that is the one, wondering if they’d send a bantam? Guess we’ll find out!

I'm sorry it didn't make it.

Where did you order from? Did you actually know you would be getting a mystery chick or something like a "meal maker"? Usually, from large hatcheries if you order say...large fowl - your mystery will be large fowl as well. Not to say they couldn't throw in a bantam.

Sometimes chicks are just small and fail to thrive. Add in stress from shipping and sadly they don't make it.

I hope all the others stay happy and healthy.

These are from McMurray. Its my first time ordering chicks online. The other small one didn’t make it yesterday, but I got up this morning and the remaining 15 look great, so 🤞🤞 I really don’t think there is a thing I could’ve done to help these chicks. They arrived at USPS 10 pm Tues night and arrived at our house 8:30 am Thursday. I got them all sugar water right away, heat, and those 2 got extra help to get a lot of hydration. But it always bums you out 😞

They told me they were sending a mystery “bonus” chick 😂😂 I had no idea if there were parameters, but was guessing it’d be a roo 😉

I'm sorry you lost the other one too.
I've never lost any chicks that were shipped, but quite a few have.
LOL I've also seen where quite a few people get those "bonus" chicks and they are male. I've never had that happen either!
