New to hatching quail. We hatched two eggs. They both come out perky, jumping around, then less than 48 hours they just gradually get weaker and lethargic. One died and the other seems to be turning out the same way. This morning I found him on his back trying to get on his stomach. I rolled him over. He seemed to be too hot. I cooled him down, gave him water, then honey water. He’ll kind of waddle around then still just gets stuck on his back and thrashes around. He’s getting weaker. His beak just opens and closes like he’s panting. I keep feeding him water. Idk what to do. I don’t want him to pass and trying to get him back to how he was...perky and seemingly healthy. I’ve attached two pics of him.

What kind of feed are they on? Baby quail chicks need exceptionally high protein (23-28 percent) and I used Manna Pro Gamebird Starter for my chicks. Is poop stuck to their butts?
Did you dip their beaks in the waterer after they hatched? they are silly little birds and often won't realize where the waterer is unless they get shown it.

I hope your little guy is pulling through! Additionally, what temp is the brooder? If he is panting and seems overheated you may need to lower the temp a bit. Quail chicks are good at being able communicate what temp they prefer and if he is trying to get away from the lamp/hiding in a far corner he may be too warm. Nutridrench is a bird electrolyte that I have seen used on the forum with success-although, with baby chicks sometimes there is no saving them. It's a hard part of quail raising. I'm sorry for your loss of your first chick. :hugs

Here are a few links I found helpful; about similar issues, and chick-related illnesses on this forum

Does your brooder have a warm side and a cool side? That allows them to choose the temperature where they are comfortable. What temperature is the warmest part of your brooder? Feed could also be an issue. Yours looks small enough, but does it have enough protein?
