Weak, pale, dying hen but still eating, what's wrong?

What a really busy, helpful site. Thanks all for the help. My hen is looking much rosier. Her comb is getting brighter pinkish red every day & starting to stand up & she is walking around on her own good. Much more energy & her voice is stronger. Still light as a feather. I think I will keep her separate until she's good & strong, then watch her to make sure the others let her eat. This is her 5th day of Sulmet/Tetra. She's getting poly-vi-sol, 30% cat food soaked, laying pellets & scratch. Always hungry. She looks to be on the road to recovery, I can't believe it, I thought she was a gonner. When would be a good time to worm her & with Wazine & then Safeguard? Thanks again.

I would wait a little while to worm her as she is still in a fragile state. Let her recover some and get some strength back, then worm. Glad to hear she is feeling better

Thanks so much, I will wait. she is spunky now, but I want a little meat back on her bones. She hasn't layed.

Dex, you sound like you're doing all the right things. I'm glad you're keeping her separate right now so she doesn't shy away from the food with the other birds there. My non thriver is doing great living with 2 bantams. She went from skin and bones and pale to plump and pink.

My silkies were really suffering in the heat. I added a mister, but it wasn't any better with this humidity. So I stopped that and put a fan on them in their pen and what a difference! They are acting so much more normal and like standing under it.

Try getting some wax worms and crickets for her (reptile section of the pet store). Add maybe a teaspoon or two of handfeeding formula to her feed (just add some of the powder; you don't need to add water as long as she is drinking I would mix it together with the crumbles or pellets.

OK, thanks, I'll see if I can find some wax worms or crickets. We do have a fan going & we added a mister last month, It really helped bring the hot temps down.
