Here's the latest...

Got 10 babies over in the brooder, kicking around and looking great!

Got 1 BO left in the bator, resting up.

Got 1 egg ALMOST hatched, and 6 more piped in various stages.

Got 6 left with NO pip yet...

The BO's seem to be taking their sweet time - they always looked smaller when I candled also so not a huge surprize they are lagging behind a day...

I'm heading over to the school in about an hour - I hope the one almost out will hold off so I can take it to school.

I've got a portable hatcher rigged up so I can take just a couple of the eggs in and a couple of the babies and they will stay warm... also am going to take in the video of them hatching in case no body wants to cooperate and hatch on cue!

Last night my kid's got to stay up past thier bedtime and they watched the first two BR's hatch out!

They were squealing a and rooting on the two BR's. Now they want us to get a bator LOL!

I have to thank you again arlee for putting this together. My 5 year old woke up this morning and the first thing he asked was if he could see the eggs and watch more hatch. We were watching this Buff hatch but I lost my connection

Back from the school...

Took two that were 'on the verge' and one hatched in the care before I got there... the other was kind enough to hatch for the kids. I made a temporary hatcher out of a plexiglass small animal container and a heating pad. It worked pretty well to hold the temp and humidity OK AND to let the kids see the baby hatch. They wouldn't have been able to see anything if I had taken the bator.

The teacher was glad I only brought TWO to hatch instead of the whole bunch - the kids were a bit excited, to say the least.

I did show them my videos of the others hatching also.

What a fun project this has been! I encourage everyone out there to volunteer to do a hatching project at a local elementary school. I think I had as much fun as the kids! LOL
