WebCam- March 18, 19 & 20th hatch has started

lol Now that is just crazy! Must have been some fresh eggs! If I cant get the rooster I want this year I will get some eggs from my sister in law who has chickens. The stores are very expensive to buy chicks. Although that didnt stop me yet again this year lol. Last year I bought 5, this year I bought 6 already but am gonna buy 6 or 7 more depending on if I can find my rooster. The store said they will carry that breed this year but we will see. Good luck on your chicks!

I think that most store eggs are not fertile, but a few stores will sell eggs marked as FERTILE. Traders Joes's is one place. They are refrigerated and meant for eating, but some folks on here enjoy buying the ones marked fertile and see if they can be hatched and see just what little mystery chick they might get. What I don't understand is why some folks would want fertile eggs to eat? No there isn't anything wrong with them, that's what we eat, but don't understand it from the marketing ploy side of it. Must be something about them that would entice the average consumer.

Ya its just a marketing deal for people to buy some fertile uber cool organic eggs then play some hackysack or w/e but hey I am cool with that. I gonna go to the natural food store they have in enid and see if they have some.

Yeah, check the date and try to get the freshest ones to try. sorry not trying to highjack the thread. the chicks are really cool when you think that they wouldn't have had any chance to hatch if someone didn't decide to try it out.

Great results and I love the camera. My son just tried to hatch some TJ eggs and a local seller. Of 24 eggs, 7 started to grow but none made it. We may try again.

Now that they have all hatched an dried I moved them to the brooder.

Brooder Camera.

We dont have a trader joes around here but I have seen fertile eggs at walmart before. I looked again for this project but could not find any so I got these at the local place. Normally 2 chicks per dozen would be bad but this time I'm happy to get that. Adds up to $0.75 a chick anyway so thats not bad.

I'm one of the folks who bought Trader Joe's fertile eggs and hatched some. Just for an eggsperiment.

I now have four White Leghorns - 3 pullets and a cockerel - in my flock. It was pretty exciting, and quite cheap because they were grocery store eggs.
