We bought ours from here: http://www.cottagekits.com/chicken-coops/

Very happy with the quality and design! We got the 6x8 model which is plenty of space for our 8 chickens.

Those look much nicer/better than the little kit coops peddled at most farm stores, etc

Yes, we've had it for a year now and it's held up in all kinds of weather. It took about a day to put together and definitely at least 2-3 strong adults. We added shingles, painted it, and cut a couple of extra windows for ventilation. And built a run that will be partly covered (we just haven't put the roof on yet!)

I use the deep litter method inside so cleaning is pretty low maintenance.

Is it weather proof? How do you keep it clean?

Doesn't each chicken need a their own nest? Most of the product descriptions say they are meant for far more chickens then nesting spots. ex: 4-6 chickens, but only 1 nesting box with room for 2-3 nests. What's up with that?

No, nesting boxes are just for laying in. The hens share boxes and most times wait for the favorite one to be empty. Three hens per nest is about right I think.

Roost and floor space is what determines how many birds a coop can hold. 12" of roost per bird and 4 square feet per bird.

Our coop has 6 nesting boxes and they all use the same two. In fact sometimes 2 of them will hop into the same one together.

They do and should be nicer since they are 3-4 times the cost.

Did you look at their price list?....they have some really neat little buildings!!
