LOL LCRT. we where both planning. We got colors down as well. We been doing this for afew days now. We dont want a long boring wedding. We want a fast pace I do wedding lol.

Congratulations!!!

WE kept our wedding costs low by doing everything ourselves but it was fairy-tale beautiful. We got married in the woods outside on the island my mom lives on. She had a tent in her backyard for the reception. Everyone (all family members, including visiting relatives) chipped in and helped prepare the food for 2 days in advance. My husband and I made the Sauce Croron for the lobster (we live in maine and got it cheap from a lobsterman friend!) and we must have cracked 5 dozen eggs for it! We also roasted some beef and had cold sauces with those and simple sliced tomatoes with basil leaves and cold green beans vinaigrette. We kept costs down by only offering beer & wine, no full bar (personally I think cash bars at weddings are kinda tacky, no offense if anyone had that....) because we could not afford it.

For decorations: we bought lots of mini christmas lights (cheap!) and the relatives strung them in the trees and around the edges of the tent. I sent my bridesmaids out to pick wild daisies and I bought some farmers-market flowers and we all arranged the centerpieces in collected vases from relatives (also start looking at yard sales for vases, you can get them for 25 cents apiece sometimes! They don't all have to match, an eclectic look is good!) I arranged the bridesmaids bouquets, boutiniers, and my own bouquet. On the tables we also had photos of both of our families (back to great-grandparents) and of us as kids.... all printed out and mounted on pieces of colored foam-core with little stands so they stood up. That was really cool, it documented the two families that were being joined by our marriage. Everyone enjoyed walking around looking at all the photos.

To this day (13 years later) people still tell me how they remember our wedding as being so beautiful and magical and special.... and the reason why is that it was PERSONAL, not a big mega-bucks extravaganza... all home-made and wonderful. So you CAN have a fabulous, magical wedding on not too much cash!

Have a wonderful time and again, congrats!

I was married July 7th, 2007!
We had a western themed wedding (well wasn't so much a them as it was US)
We had a three tier square basket weave cake. It was italian creme on the bottom layer, carrot on the middle, and banana nut on the top layer. Covered with white butter cream frosting. We also had a cheese cake (specially made for my DH by my mom), a sheet cake (half white/half choc) for anyone that couldn't have nuts (all 3 layers of our cake had nuts) we had 2 choc fountains (milk choc and white choc) We had about 150 people. It was held at a local restaurant owned by a friend. Ceremony was short and sweet! Any question just PM I am thinking of going into the wedding planning business (on the side)
