Weeds, WEEDS, and more weeds!!!! PICS INCLUDED

Why are you after "weeds"?

Clover is a high protein livestock forage. There are many varieties available or available in grass/clover mixes for general forage use. Most of your feed/seed stores carry forage mixes for planting. Alfalfa/grass mixes are also popular.

Clover and alfalfa are legumes, are fairly high in protein, and properly inoculated with rhizobia can fix nitrogen from the air and improve the fertility of your soil.

Otherwise, as I said earlier, just till some ground and water... the weeds will come.

glad to hear they love clover! it's attacking my gardens - now i know what to do with it!

Mainly because they grow so easily and take over! I say weeds because that is what most people would call them. I have now come to rethink the way I look at these maligned green guys. What I used to spend every weekend trying to wipe out I now pick every morning for my animals. Ironic!!!

A weed is just a plant that is growing where it's not wanted.

So you can plant anything you want. Lettuce, collards and whatever. I don't mind dandelions or whatever cuz they don' t really care. When I plant the bald spots I throw a mix of grass and clover seed.

You'll be fine.

First I must say, every plant that you toss your chickens, they will pick thru it and choose to eat it or not.. I have never had a chicken get poisened from eating weeds. Most of the weeds in your pics look like plants that I toss to my hens on a regular basis and they love anything and everything I toss to them.

I checked that link on toxic plants, and dandelions are not on it

My chickens would be dead by now if it were poisonous.

Mine eat dandelions daily with no ill effects. They love them.
