I had to know what some of my broilers weighed at week 5. I grabbed the scales and a box lid. I grabbed 2 of the average size chickens and weighted them. One weighed 3.5lbs and the other was just over 4 lbs.

Are they where they should be or are they light for their age?

Thanks!

We are currently at day 39 for McMurray CX birds. We started with 25 and lost one at Day 26, cause unknown. We weigh 5 random birds every 7 days and the averaged results are as follows:
Day 7 - 4.35 oz
Day 14- 12. oz.
Day 21- 1#8 oz.
Day 28- 2#13 oz. (smallest 2#6, largest 3#5)
Day 35- 4#8 oz. (smallest 4#2, largest 4#11)
Day 39- 5#12oz. (smallest 5#4, largest 5#15) we weighed today with our grandson visiting.
We moved the hens from the garage brooder to an outdoor area at day 28, and since then the weight gain has really taken off. Feed is always available. Now at 12 pounds of feed daily, using 18% protein. We hope to move them again to the tractor if they feather out enough. Currently getting frost overnight.

My son's 2nd grade class hatched them out. They generally hatch white loghorns so my wife sent a note that her father wanted them. He kept them 2 weeks and figured out what he had and told me to come get them.

I have no clue where they got the eggs. I just know they are broilers. Probably cornish X. They look just like it anyway and they are growing and eating like a Cornish x.

Thanks!
