Silkie genders!

Buff can have some partridge pattern as chicks. It’s likely she’s actually a mixed color, but appears outwardly buff (silkies are often mixed colors, she probably has some partridge genetics). Do you have a full body picture of Nutmeg?
I was just getting some! These are from about 3 minutes ago. She really does look just mainly buff on her whole body except for her wings and maybe a bit of her tail.

She was moving fast, so sorry about the blurry photos.

I’m home now so I’ll get new photos soon.

While I was gone, it looks like Eclipse has been a bit bullied, there’s a little bald spot on the top of her head and there was a tiny bit of blood when I got home late last night.

Oh, also, regarding Eclipse and his/her lack of a crest, I just believe that s/he is poor quality, as I believe I spy some pink skin around her wing. I’ll try to take a picture when I update.

Ok! Week 10!

Nutmeg
This is what she looks like without the crest pushed back.

Eclipse:
She has a little bald, pecked spot, unfortunately. I didn’t push her non existent crest back at all.

These guys are a bit tricky! There’s no obvious cockerel signs in any of them at this point. I’ve had silkie pullets with wide combs. Only the buff one I’m on the fence where this one may be male. My little paint cockerel is 3 1/2 months old and his comb isn’t any bigger than this. 😊 you might want to put some “blue cote” or similar on the first ones bald spot to prevent further picking.

I agree.
