Need Good advice - 3 1/2 year old Black Copper Meran Hen. She just started yesterday looking like she didn't feel good. You know that look, tail down, slow moving, decided to go under the coop while everyone else is running towards you for their cucumber treats. So I watched.... and about an hour later I got her out from under the coop and checked her for
Egg Bound..NO, Crop issues..NO, Mites..NO. I looked at the bottom of her feet and there she had a black spot with some swelling. O.K. read up on the Bumble Foot and contacted the Vet that is at least willing to share his speculations (not a bird vet) So we decided to put Tetracycline in the water and soak her foot, put Vetracin on it and wait and see.

That still does not explain why she is lethargic and has NO interest in eating (very unusual for her). Plus she feels hot under her wings. So one Bumble foot fix later I put her back in the cage and she promptly pooped a watery, bloody small stool

If she won't drink the meds in the water and won't eat, I'm thinking of changing her to Tylon 50 by mouth and then treat with Safe Guard by mouth.

unless there is a way to treat with the Tetracycline by mouth??

Uugg! I hate not knowing what to do.

Need help, she will go down hill if I can't get on top of this. and in my 8 years of experience the TYLON 50 has always worked but I feel like I'm taking a shot in the dark.

Did I also note she hasn't lied an egg in 3 days. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Sorry no poop pics.

FYI- I confirmed with the Vet and I'm starting her on .2cc of Duramycin orally 2 times a day. for 3 days. Then we talk Deworming or Corid once she is gets the fight back in her.
