The sneezing sounded like a respiratory problem. Gasping can be the same, but also common when dying. So sorry that you are losing them. Buying chicks from others can always be a gamble. After I have read a lot about hatching eggs, a lot of the condition of chicks depends on the health and good condition of the parent stock, the vigor of the particular breed, how clean the incubator or nest was, and the condition of the eggs. So many different problems can affect young chicks from shipping problems to vitamin or mineral deficiency.

I'm sending 2 away for necropsy. Dr brown think respiratory so we started anti biotics and b Vitamins.

Are they in a properly ventilated brooder with a non-teflon coated bulb?

So very sorry for your lost, it's devastating to loose them & go through what you have been. I do hope you contact/notify whomever you got the chicks from. Sounds like the 'problem' came with them

Got from a backyard breeder, they seem fine one Sec then stop eating and die fast ..lost 3 in a week! Doing sugar water vitamins by eye dropper didn't help. They die so fast. is it cocci? No blood on poo no ruffled feathers

I did and he said don't know what's wrong my birds are fine. They came here sneezing so it's pretty clear. And that sucks how can you sell sick birds to people. I'm sending 2 for necropsy to find out. If it's something that they carry for life I'll never be able to sell babies.

Yes the standard red bulbs they sell for chickens

Waiting for the necropsy but oxytetracycline stopped the deaths, but not the sneezing from spreading, however the sneezing and congestion is much much less.

Wanted to update got the prelim report from the necropsy. No mycoplasma nor AI or any of that horrible stuff. The dr thinks it's going to be staph or strep. the virus tests will be 4 weeks but she didn't think it was viral. Fingers crossed no more deaths this week since I put them on oxytetracycline
