week old chick very weak

I'm not sure. I'm liking the fact that it does have some good vitamins in it. My hens have eaten some of it before from the dogs food ( OTL I worried it'd kill them so they only got one tasting before I realized whats up) and their eggshells have been SO thick they are actually kind of hard to crack open in the pan.

Fed chickie again this morning. 2 tsp food, 4 tsp water in the mix, letting it soak in. His belly was still pretty full so I just had him drink 2 tsp water.

I would absolutely LOVE to buy them more things, proper medication, proper vitamins, proper everything but I'm going to say, again, I have 5$ to my name and cannot afford anything. I'm trying to find things I already have to help them.

So suggestions to use things I don't have really isn't helping me at all. Future suggestions are great, but right now I need input on what I have. I'm already wound up tight enough as is. If I can't afford to buy my own meds I cannot afford to buy chicken meds.

This normally isn't an issue, but my dog broke her paw a while back and the vets office suddenly decided they were not okay with the payment plan I had with them and demanded the rest in full.

If you haven't already, make a list of what you do have. Include food, drugs, syringes, etc. then maybe you'll get better advice.

I've been asking on a case by case basis. I have medicated feed and that seems to be helping him, and now I'm asking about the dinovite.

I'm very new to chickens so I don't have syringes or extra medications. I have medicated food, sugar water, and a spoon. As I find more things that may help I ask about them.

Stick with just the chick starter and water. Forget about the dinovite. Do you have eggs? He can have eggs.

When you get your finances sorted you should make yourself a poultry first aid kit that includes:

Corid
An antibiotic or two
Syringes
Tube for tube feeding.
Wormer
Poultry dust
Nutri-drench or Poly-Vi-Sol (without iron)
Electrolytes
Heat lamp
Box or bin for sick birds
Towels for box

Maybe other people will add to the list. Raising healthy chickens is more costly than most people think.

If the cocci hasn't killed him in three days, he is probably out of the danger zone. I'd try to get him to start eating and drinking on his own, supplementing when you notice that his crop isn't full. I think you are probably out of danger, but may still need to supplement his eating/drinking for a little while.

If you get by a Walgreens, stop at the pharmacy and ask for a medicine dropper. They hand them out for free from the pharmacy counter. pIf you have another pharmacy that you use regularly, you can try them. Very nice to have in the chick starter box.

I just fed him again. Half the feed mash (1 tsp feed, 1 tsp water) and an additional 1 tsp water.

He poops and there was a clear round thing in it that sort've looked like a worm? It was completely clear and I could barely see it. Otherwise his poop was normal. Is there a very clear worm in chickens? Or could it just be me imagining things? It didn't move and there was only one. I tried to pick through the poop but it didn't show up. I think I'm seein things.

Edit: No, no blood at all. They look normal to me.. save for the weird thing above that I think I'm just imagining. I'm looking at worm pictures and not seeing anything that looks like what I think I saw.

Editedit: Okay, it was just part of the white cap that got smeared out weird. xD
