Week old ducklings swimming

Lol I am so sorry! I keep calling myself mom to my ducklings and chicks. I may just be a tad crazy though haha

I'm 'bucket boy' to the chickens and ducks here.

My pekins swam in deep water every day since day 3 and they all became waterproof by day 11.

Will it be obvious when they become waterproof?

It will be super obvious, water will slide on their backs instead of being absorbed and wetting their down.

The only reason it could possibly be unsafe is if they are unsupervised. I just hatched 3 pekins and i put them in the sink at 3 days old. They swam, i watched, took them out after a bit, towel dried them, and put them back in the brooder to preen and finish drying off. Youll know if theyre too hot or too cold. When i was a newbie i had the heat lamp RIGHT above them and they were literally panting. As long as theyre snuggly youre ok. Dont over think too much
