Week old Pekin Duckling not standing up?

They need niacin, which I think the game bird starter has. However, it does have too much protein. I used game bird starter mixed with chick starter, and oatmeal, and my ducks are doing great.

Did you leave the ducklings in the water for a short time? Mine would only be in the water for about 15- 20 minutes. Then, it was time for them to get out.

Hope the others are doing better.

Not much. I use a frosting cup as my feed cup, so ducklings get 1 frosting cup. I use the tablets and I crush 2-3 tablets and put it on their feed 1-2 times a day.

Gamebird starter or chick starter, neither one has enough niacin for waterfowl. Personally, I would feed ducklings regular chick starter and give them the brewer's yeast for niacin. Unless you can find waterfowl starter in your area, I don't have that in my area.

Actually, turkey and game bird starters have plenty of niacin for ducklings but are high in protein at 22% or higher, which can cause physical problems if fed as their sole food source. That is why you should mix 1 part game bird, 1 part chick starter, and 1/2 part uncooked oatmeal to get the correct balance. This information can be found in David Holderreads book.

Edited to say:

Chick starter with niacin supplements or brewer's yeast will work too.

I have given them a vitamin/supplement pack in their water. I will do this for several days. I noticed another thread about the web foot not being open. This one is has one that is not open. I will try the sticky pad to open its foot to see if that helps.

I also mixed the gamebird with the chick starter.

I like the sticky pad idea. Hope it works for you. The thread below is full of information regarding food/treats for ducks. With your ducklings you can mash up some thawed frozen peas, and they will love them. I had to put some in my ducklings water at first to get them to eat the peas. After that they were hooked. Peas are good for them, and they can have a much as they want. Here's the thread...

Good News!!!! The little one stood up and walked a few steps this morning!
Gave them fresh water with the vitamin/supplement mix again this morning!
Hope this is a good sign. It's web foot was partially opened up this morning.
May try the sticky pad this afternoon. Thanks for all the input.

Oh, this is good news. Continue to give them the supplements for up to 6-8 weeks from their hatch date, and they should do fine. It can also be used whenever they are under stressful conditions, i.e moving to location, poor feed, poultry shows, etc.

The duckling is walking around. It is still small increments and a little wobbly but it is standing up. I got Purina Flock Raiser to switch from Country Lane Game bird feed.
I also have Brewers yeast. Do I still need to add to Flock Raiser? If so how much? I use a quart mason jar for feed. I am also giving them a Vitamin Electrolyte Supplement in their water.

Thanks for all the advice. I just want to make sure they stay healthy.
