I had 8 of the SFH (one died), not down to 7. They are now 4 weeks old and growing fast. It appears that 1 is a rooster, he has huge feet. Otherwise they all look alike, small combs, no wattles, etc. I named him Svend (Swedish for "boy"). They are changing colors like crazy. I will have to post pics soon.

where are pics?

Sorry, I have not posted any new pics, we had unexpected company over the weekend, therefore I did not have time to take new pics. Depending on what time I get home tonight I will see if I can take some new pics otherwise I will get some new pics this weekend. I think we have 4 roosters out of the 13.

you did better than me

I think I only have 3 pullets and 5 cockerals

I have that luck though...if I hatch I get at least 75% cockerals, unless I have a single hatch then I get a pullet(usually when I need a cockeral

I was thinking that before but I think the Icelandics have more variations...i.e. different combs, feathered legs or non, I have only caught a few posts over on that thread. I will say though, the swedish flower hens are more like my ameraucana in personality, not flighty at all, which the Icelandics seem? I absolutely love the flower hens, wish I could get more but dh wants me to see what grows out for now....
eta- they are both also a landrace variety

Good to hear from another Swedish Flower Hen owner. I have 7 that are about 7 weeks old - I think I have 3 Roos and 4 girls. Hard to tell. The largest of the bunch has hardly any comb and acts girlish. I will have to wait and see. I have one that is sporting a crest - too cute. We named her Lucy. I will have to get pics.
