Weekend one of my coop build

Oh my gosh! We totally have one of those carts and that’s totally going to be how we use it now. Much better than all our tools in buckets and all over. Brilliant!

I love that you “overbuild” it. I wish that were the case for me! The coop looks great and I’ll be following along.

Hopefully your help was helpful. My help is always a little too helpful.

:popLookin' great!
(Dark roof, you'll need the shade)
Edited to add: I have the clear but it's under year round shade from tall pine trees

Stacey-. Thanks for the feedback on the roof. I do see a lot of nice coops with clear roofs, but with the heat we get here, I'm thinking we'd end up with some baked chickens...without using the oven.

Karl I know the kind of heat you are talking about because we lived in Tucson for a few years you will seriously need the shade, plus an overhang to make the shade last longer into the afternoon.
You might want to consider a misting system as well.
Now is also a good time to evaluate your plantings for toxicity. As much as I hate to admit it, my 6 girls free range our yard and they've eaten or torn up pretty much everything! (We're in the south east now)
Garden, grass, shrubs...1 chicken alone can tear out a flower bed in the time it takes to take a shower! Lol

I'm thinking about changes for the spring to limit where they can roam and scratch and dig and dustbathe and what areas will be off limits.

Harmony...my help (x3) is 'reward driven'. "if I help, do I get a new Lego set?!?!"

I am really thinking about how I will do this. The coop straddles two sections of the yard- bigger and 'landscaped' and smaller/garden. I think I will make a chicken door leading to each section. Then I may decide which part of the yard I'm willing to sacrifice.
