TB
by Gabriel Mendoza
A new friend blew in one morning
her name was TB
as I breathed her in with a gasp
I knew one day she would scar me
I inhaled her treacherous smoke
as she asked to be my friend
but I actually went to ask her
to contaminate me with her image
From day to day it went on
like a lingering sickness does
I welcomed her stench
the rotting air that made me
foul of breath
She penetrated my inner fortress
my sanctum seclorum
every lung inhale,every moment
seemed to be the last
a relief, a release
Then one day out of the blue, she left
finally my body felt fresher
fresh air,fresh breath
and the scars that lined my lungs from TB
and the heart that skips a beat from TB
and the mind that wont forget TB
