Weight at Processing

My CX will 6 weeks in 3 days. I weighed some today. They are 5.5-6 lbs. At what weight do you guys usually process? They look good. They still have good movement as they try to run in the yard. 7 Weeks will be Christmas Day and 8 weeks on New Years. Thinking of processing the week between. How does that sound?

From what I've read people try to achieve between 7-8 pounds because you lose about 30% to a dressed weight of about 5 lbs.

8 weeks is pretty standard time to butcher. The week before they turn 8 weeks will work fine, especially if you have some time off work and it is convenient to do them then.

They should put on a lot of size the last 2 weeks. They continue to grow a lot bigger after 8 weeks, but the feed conversion becomes slightly less amazing so that those additional pounds cost more.

Ours was 8 - 9 lbs live weight and all dressed between 4.5 lbs and 5.25 lbs. We did have a couple 4 lbers. This was at 8 and a half weeks.
