How much weight is lost in processing a Cornish X ?

What will a 6 lb live weight bird lose ?.

Is it better to wait until they are heavier, say 7 or 8 pounds.

I think I read on here that you will get about 2/3rd the weight after culled and cleaned. But, I would wait to hear from another poster, I may be wrong. How old are your birds?

65-75% of their live weight = dressed weight for CX in my birds.

They are 6 weeks old and averaging 6 lbs. Live weight.

6 lbs. live weight, they should average around 4 lbs, or a little over, dressed. That's with skin, neck and giblets. People who skin, and throw away the wings, (my favorite part, especially with the skin!) and/or throw out giblets, of course will have lower weights.
