I candled this morning, day 10, and the air cell looks weird to me. The air cell starts in the middle of the big end of the egg and go's down lower than the rest of the eggs. Could this be a problem during hatching?
The egg is completely straight on the candler. This is a marans egg also.

Can a saddle shaped air cell be on one side only? This one is only on the one side. And I thought the saddle shaped air cell usually comes from shipping? All of the eggs came from a lady about an hour from me and we met up in the middle. Could the car rides cause this?

I had a couple wonky air cells from some eggs I drove about 4 hours for. Don't know if it was the drive or something else.
I think shipping causes detached air cells, where it's a free moving air cell.

I think a car ride could cause some odd air cells, though not as easily as shipping through the mail would.

I don't know for sure the technical term for your air cell. I know I've had some not be completely straight, even if they were from my own chickens and never left my yard.

I also had some crazy misshapen ones that were shipped to me that have hatched just fine.

I wouldn't be too worried about the shape if I were you. Just make sure you're adjusting the humidity according to its size and give it a chance and see what happens.

X2 plus, at hatch he sure the lowest end of the dip faces up. Or maybe hatch that one tilted slightly upright in a cutdown carton. Are you hand turning? If so, are your eggs marked so you know this egg is being turned same as the others?

Thank you guys! I'll have to watch this little one when hatch time comes. I already know I'll be going crazy around lockdown, so this is just another thing to add to the pile. @ChickensAndYoga I have a automatic egg turner, so all of the eggs are getting turned at the same time.
