weird deflated eggs...

so, now my EE FINALLY layed a regular egg this morning! First solid one in a week or so. The smaller end is sort of sandpapery, though. Is this an indication of what might have been wrong this past week? I also noticed that she tried to peck the eggs as i pulled them out of the layer boxes. Do i have a raw egg eater on my hands, now? Anything i can do to break her of this, if that's the case? I'm assuming early egg gathering would be in my best interest...
